Iberostar Varadero is about a forty minute drive from the airport to the hotel and the city of Varadero is about a twenty minute drive from the Iberostar.

• In bad weather the beach can have quite a rip tide

Tips for staying at the Iberostar Varadero:

• Book the Japanese restaurant at the beginning of your stay to try it so you can make reservations again.  It was voted the best restaurant in the resort.
• Book reservations at any of the restaurants you want to try (other than buffet) when you get to the resort
• Do the day trip into Havana (the capital of Cuba) to see the “real” Cuba
• The garden view rooms overlook a nice gazebo and pond so if you’re trying to save money this may be a good option
• Pack some tissue in your beach bag as the bathroom at the beach sometimes ran out of toilet paper
• Bring mosquito repellent (especially for the evenings)
• Money exchange at the airport got a better rate than at the hotel
• Take a trip into Varadero if you get bored in the resort.  You can catch the open top bus into Varadero for 5 CUC return or the open train for 4 CUC return on the main road in front of the resort.  A taxi is about 30 CUC return.
• Don’t go to the Mediterranean restaurant if you don’t eat fish or seafood as they don't have many alternative dishes.
